Had troubles configuring my phone. Initially it only worked with Facetime but not with the celluar network. Yet Customer Services sorted it out in no time and that over the holidays. Thus 5 stars. Love Apps that are properly supported, carry on
Firstly, you need to change color of app icon to match with FaceTime app and you should definitely add keypad support. Everything else is ok.
Seems that everything is back on track…
I want my money back! Doesn’t even work.
I bought this App with the understanding that Apple maintained a reputable standard in Apple Store. This App called Dockphone proved me wrong. We tested this App under several conditions and it just refused to work. How this got passed the scrutiny of Apple we don’t understand. Shame on Apple.
I’d rather be able to type in a phone number through notification centre, than click on a recent contact’s number to recall them—that’s sort of useless. Being able to type in a number on a keypad in notification centre would be a much better use of widget functionality.
Worked instantly on my first try, I dont know what everyone’s complaining about. I would have bought it for $5.
I’ve been using my Mac instead of my iPhone to make calls ever since this app was released. It’s not fancy. It doesn’t have to be. It’s a quick window to pull up, find a contact and make a call. Works like a charm.
When I’m on my computer I never need to open FaceTime or grab my phone to dial. Dockphone works flawlessly!
I’m not satisfied with the product cause it’s difficult to configure with the IPhone. More over, there is no support to assist even if the site gives an email or Imessage adresse to communicate. I donnot recommend the purchase.
Okay, I’m in the same family wifi, same ICloud account, all logged in to my FaceTime…same on the Iphone.. all specs meets…but nothing. give me my money back?
This app is nicer than the others with the contacts integration, but it lacks a dialpad so you cannot call a number that requires any other input prompts. The workaround for the input prompts is to create a contact that includes commas (,,,) that will insert pauses, and then put the prompt nunbers after the commas. This assumes you know what the number prompts should be. For me, I call into conference lines a lot. I will be happy to give more stars if they get a dialpad integrated with the app. This is pretty good for a first release version, but the app is really no different than the others out there that are free. For now, save your money.
HORRIBLE
For those who think a dialpad should be added, you should get one of those new fangled computers that has a keypad on it. I hear the new ones also have number keys in addition to the letter keys. ;)
Instead of dilaing through FaceTime, it launches Skype, but then fails to complete the dialing. In other words, it doesn’t seem to work. I couldn’t find any preferences that would prefer FaceTime over Skype. And tech support for the app is lacking and particular information or trouble shooting. Disappointing.
Not a lot of bells and whistles, but it works exactly as advertised, and it is nice to be able to dial out from the mac without opening FaceTime. Also, the ability to voice dial is a nice touch.
I read reviews here and Cult of Mac.. I have iPhone 5s, and 2013-late MacbookPro.. Same WiFi it works right out of the gate.. I have bluetooth enabled on my phone and macbook pro and I now have a phone app icon on my dock.. My iphone is usually somewhere off my desk and left on some other surface.. I can make quick calls and this is great add on to the mac!
Much easier than digging through the FaceTime app just to make a phone call from your Mac. Simple but great.
enjoying the app. works well with my mac book air and 5s. No hiccups. Just works and does what i want. You can dial numbers that aren’t in your contacts just by typing them in. Simple.
