DockPhone App Reviews

Waste of money!

Cant make calls, I was better off using Facetime Audio. I want my money back!

They provide support on their website!

For those who wrote the poor ratings: You need to read the requirements!! In FaceTime on your Mac, you have to set “FaceTime” as the Default for calls’ in the FaceTime preferences. Then it worked for me like a charm! Loving this app!

This app works.

However, it’s missing a dial pad. Whenever I need to dial an extension, I have to go back to my iPhone. Diad pad should be included in the update, and maybe integrdae native Mac contact, then it’d be full flege iPhone calling replacement.

Beware: Still opens and uses Facetime to make calls!

After reading about this app I was under the impression that it could make calls without having to open Facetime. Well…. all this app does it run a script behind the scene to open Facetime so you don’t have to do it. Requires multiple clicks to dial a call, you must even confirm that you want to place the call after it opens up Facetime. No wonder this app is only $.99!

Not an actual dock or menu app. But makes calls

So for the basic process of making phone calls, this app works as advertised and is nice to be able to do it easily. However, where this fails is that it isn’t an actual dock/menu item that you can click on. Instead you have to run the app like any other app. So why not just run the Facetime app instead. Same process, plus Facetime provides a dial pad to enter numbers. Also, the “preferences” in the menu does nothing. No popup, no screen, nothing. Isn’t that a break in the Apple requirements? Could be much better design. But for 99cents still ok.

Neat!

DockPhone is great! I just bought it and placed in my Dock already. Im a sales man and I have a lot of calls everyday, so this app is going to be a huge time saver. Works brilliantly as advertised.

Worth the $0.99!

Works excellent and is really easy to use. I know you have to hit the “Call” button but I am pretty sure that is a FaceTime requirement as other apps are doing that too. I noticed a lot of “no dialpad” complaints in other reviews (for this and other apps), but when I called an automated system from the computer, FaceTime let me enter numbers from my keyboard, which is awesome. Super pleased!

No menu access

This is a great app which Apple should have included but the developer could have made it even easier and more useful by making it accessible from the main menu, like the Bluetooth icon, Time Machine icon and volume icons already up there. Dropbox and other apps have an icon so perhaps the developer could include this as an option? I think this would make people use it more often because you wouldn’t have to launch the app from the dock or Launchpad.

It’s OK

Works fine. Needs a couple of features though: a status bar icon with some options (microphone, favorites, etc.); NC widget needs more functions (favorites, microphone, etc.). 3 stars for now.

Great Sound and Support

In the new OS X Yosemite, Apple created an option to answer calls from your mac but the sound is terrible! I couldn’t stand that so i set out to find this app. This app is absolutely perfect! It is exactly what i was looking for and more! Also, the developers offer great support. I was confused on how to connect my phone to this but the developers got me up and running within a few minutes!

Too Basic

There are a few things that need to be added for this to really be a useful app. 1. Option to just make the call without clicking another button to confirm you want to make the call. 2. More options when right clicking on the dock icon (frequent caller list). 3. Menu bar option with same frequent call options. Lots of potential.

Awesome and simple App! Even better customer service

This is a very useful app as it lets me makes phone calls (using my iPhone) from my mac. Its simple and it works great. I especially like the integration with the notification system. What sets this app apart is the customer support. Simply put, the best I have experienced so far with app store purchases.

Great little gadget

If you make/receive calls on your iPhone this is almost a perfect dialing application (it obviously doesn’t have the flexibility to also handle landline, Skype, etc., so some people won’t find this an adequate substitute for Dialectic or PhoneAmego. The only way it could be made better is by imitating those more sophisticated programs by giving it a Service capability to dial highlighted numbers byi right-clicking. P. S. at the moment a lot of people have problems with Bluetooth on Yosemite, and Dialectic and PhoneAmego both require Bluetooth, so even those needing a more sophisticated dialer might find this a useful stopgauntil Apple cleans up its act).

Problems

Hi, You need to add a feature that when the iTunes is playing, you need to pause the music, as Skype, and as soon as the call ends, you play it again. Also, there is a bug that when the Skype is your default phone app under the Mac settings, your software doesn’t work. You need to fix that and call FaceTime instead the default Phone app

Very Useful

The piece of the puzzle that was missing Great simple app. Does everything you think it should.

Great Support. Good product, would buy again, but not perfect.

I had an issue where it stopped working for me and would not make outbound calls using my iPhone. I followed the step by step instructions and even spoke to someone on chat. They fixed my problem quickly. I did get an error when i did the recomendadtion for the Terminal commands but once I rebooted it worked! Love it! This really should have been native functionality. I also have had an issue where, intermittently, incoming calls will not ring on the laptop and I have to use my cell phone. I would also like an option to dial a contact from my mobile phone but place the call via the laptop speakers and mic. Would be nice if you could push the call back and forth between the laptopn and the mobile for when you might need to pick up the phone and walk to get something.

Add a dial pad….

It works…but it would be easier if they added a dial pad as well.

Lack of a Keypad Is A Major Shortcoming - No Conference Call Use

This is a nice little app with a slick interface. However, the lack of a keypad is a major shortcoming. The majority of my calls require a conference# to be entered after the connection is made - something not possible with this version. So it sits on the dock, unused.

Good, but could be improved with this...

Ok, but could be improved by not making a call a two-click operation after the number is found. For example, hotkey up dock phone, dictate or type for search, then once a contact is found and clicked, you get an OS X notification in the upper right confirming you want to make the call. Axe the last bit, and this app would be improved. In addition, add a direct dialer as mentioned many times here. thx! UPDATE: lowered rating to 3stars when I found Keypad on the App store. That’s what I really wanted.

Good app

Woks fine no problems
